I have no rules for this blog, per se. I guess my only guiding principals are to keep it positive, authentic and be consistent with it. Lately, I haven’t been so consistent but in the spirit of authenticity I should reveal that I’ve been in a big ‘ole rut. Holly Golightly would have branded these the “mean reds” each of which I owe to an amazing vacation that’s been really hard to come down from. Pepper that with a couple of bad days at the office and a juice cleanse gone wrong and there ya have it. Reds, blues whatever their color, I’ve had ‘em.
There is a saying in France, ‘bien dans sa peau’ direct translation being, ‘well in her skin’. I’ve been thinking about this recently as a result of both my travels and a brewing intrigue by the life of Coco Chanel. Chanel’s life and work revolved around this signature, feminine mystique. Her philosophy was that fashion shouldn’t define a woman’s style but rather should reflect the person she is, what she loves and the life she leads. Personally, I’m on board the Coco train and so, it seems, is a country of beautiful women. Be they 10, 25 or 80 years of age, they all seem to have a classic case of ‘bien dans sa peau’.
