It must be said that I am a sushi freak. In a world full of Monday mornings and marathon meetings, a plate of raw fish is my bliss. A few months ago, my friend Emilie introduced me a local San Francisco treasure called Sushi Groove. Sushi Groove has two locations in town. SG South, is a more formal establishment in Sf’s trendy SOMA district and their North/Nob Hill spot has more of a cozy, casual vibe.
Our stop of our choice is the Northern charmer which seems to have two rules: 1) serve the freshest, most tasty fish on earth and 2) hire only brainiac bombshells to serve it. SG quickly became a weekly treat to follow a grueling, 90 minute vinyasa sesh. We concluded that sushi would be a healthy meal to round out our shape-shifting evening and that by chatting up the waitresses we would begin to inherit some of their it-girl appeal.
But our motives aren’t only ulterior. The nigiri, the sashimi the maki, and the miso all are simply heaven-sent and after weeks of trying nearly every combination of treats, I am happy to report that last night, we perfected our game.
Take note people, take note!
2 Walu Nigiri
1 Seared Ahi Nigiri
1 XXX Caliente Maki
1 Silk Maki
1 Kamikaze Maki with Sake
This order, with a bowl of edamame to start will appease the bellies and put a smile on the faces of two shrinking, yogi wannabes, any night of the week.
